Why attend St. Margaret of Scotland ?

St. Margaret: A Family Church

St. Margaret is about giving, not getting

Church is God's good idea! At church one 'gets' what God has to say and there one can meditate, reflect, pray, and maybe even study the Bible. One also 'gets' to be around those who love God and, if one wishes, some of their love may be received. The main thing is that 'you' are adding something to other Christians just by being there. With you, they are 'more' and 'better'. What you get is 'them' and what they get is 'you'! Together, you and them are greater and stronger.

St. Margaret is about building relationships

No one likes to be alone all the time and attending church gives you the opportunity to meet new friends. You'd be surprised! There are people at 'church' looking for friendships and relationships. Besides, attending church is a great place to find and build 'safe' relationships because it is a place where you are wanted!

St. Margaret is about living with differences and commitments

Attending church gives you the opportunity to be around different kinds of people who are different in age, interest, and perspective. If you feel disconnected, attending church is a place to 'connect'! Church is a place to be around people who are different, but who share a common commitment to each other and God. You 'can' remain different and that will be respected at a real church!

St. Margaret is about God being the audience, not us

Real church is not a show or like 'going to the movies'. One doesn't go to 'be pleased' or to give 'a thumbs up or a thumbs down' on people performing for 'you'. In a real church people gather to 'participate' in worship of God. In a real church, you are there to be with God, not be entertained or give a 'rating'. God is the audience in real church!

St. Margaret is about connecting with God

Have you ever tried to connect with someone who was not with you? It's the same with God. He has a house and home and it is the church. Attending church allows you to 'hook up' with God!

St. Margaret allows you to share the load

Face it, everyone has baggage. You know, 'problems'. You can't tell everyone, but you can tell God. Actually, God already knows - but attending church gives you and God a time and place to 'deal with it'. You know what I mean! And listen to this, if you want some help, at the church God will give you someone who also cares and who will 'walk' with you.

St. Margaret is a place to get a powerful mentor

Maybe you've been around 'friends' who were not the best influences. Sometimes in your life you have even wanted someone to give you a little help and guide you, when you needed an opinion. Attending church is a great place to find a mentor. If you can't find a good guide, church is 'the' place to find one!

St. Margaret is the place to find gifts

You are loaded with talent! Did you know that? When you go to church, your talent is greatly needed. People in the church have talent that they will give you, if you want and need it. They'll happily share it with you and you'll be able to use that shared talent to make your life happier. These talents are 'gifts' that are hard to find, but they are there at the church when you start attending.

St. Margaret is a place where you can make a difference

You can make an impact on this world and when you attend church, you are given your rightful place to start making a big difference in the world. That's what attending church is all about — making you somebody! God will let you go through life doing a 'me' thing, but your real power is waiting for you at church. There you can do an 'our' thing. That's you and God!

St. Margaret is a place where one is defined

You've heard that line "Got milk?" Well, how about another line — "Got God?" When you attend church, you get respect. People will know who you are. God will know what you are. Instead of supporting nothing and believing nothing — you'll be something. Church is where you get 'respect'. Church is where you like 'the real you' because God and you walk together in friendship to discover your potential.
