SEDER DINNER
FRIDAY, APRIL 15
6:30 PM
An “Inter-generational” Family Event
Each year St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church prepares to enter Easter Week by having a Seder Dinner. This year the Seder will be on Friday evening April 15, 2011 beginning at 6:30 PM. It is a family event in which children are an integral part. Sign up sheets to attend, to bring a dish and for set-up and clean-up committees are in the Narthex.Come enjoy the liturgy and joyous music
St. Margaret’s Seder and Passover program book was put together by The Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith and The Liturgy Training Publications of the Archdiocese of Chicago. It was collaborated with Jewish and Christian sponsorship so as to help Christians know, understand and celebrate a Seder meal and to acknowledge our common biblical roots. In doing so, we, as Christians, are able to share in the richness of our own faith.
The Seder is a celebration of the Passover and the deliverance of the Jews from Egyptian bondage. For people of Jewish faith, it is an eight-day celebration which occurs in the spring. Consequently, it is celebrated around the same time as our celebration of Easter - when Christ died on the cross and was resurrected to save us all from sin. It is a celebration of what God has done for us so that we may have eternal life.
The Seder celebration is a very joyous occasion and is meant to be celebrated by everyone, including children. The evening's program is a wonderful experience - a time in which you will participate in beautiful liturgy and joyous music; a time of sharing in the drinking of wine (grape juice will be provided for the children and anyone not wishing to drink wine) and partaking of a fabulous meal as well as a time of enjoyable fellowship with one another. The Seder will be held in St. Margaret’s sanctuary so that everyone will be together in one room for this special celebration.
Don’t miss out on this wonderful event!
